MG EXE181 Electric Hypercar Concept

MG, the classic British sports car maker, is back. The upcoming Cyberster is an electric take on the two-seat roadsters MG built its reputation on — but the company isn’t stopping there. The EXE181 is an electric hypercar that pays tribute to a sleek prototype that set a land speed record in 1959. Powered by a supercharged 1.5-liter twin-cam engine making 300 horsepower, the original EXE181 hit 254.91 MPH at the Bonneville Salt Flats, setting a record for its class. The new EXE181 takes inspiration from the original’s teardrop shape, but trades the ICE for a four-motor electric powertrain with a suspected 1,000-plus horsepower figure. The single-seat cockpit is centrally located, with a steering wheel that doubles as a gauge cluster along with additional car controls. MG didn’t hint at any plans for production, but along with a crop of new vehicles and a pivot towards EVs shows that the automaker is looking to the future.
