It’s 140 years for Breitling and the Swiss Luxury watch brand is continuing to celebrate a historic anniversary with a collection of firsts; this time, debuting three exclusive new timepieces with a novel feature.
Since 1884, Breitling has consistently pushed boundaries in the esteemed world of haute horlogerie. The Swiss brand specialised in producing chronographs and precision instruments for scientific and industrial applications, shifting into aviation with the Royal Air Force, supplying pilots with one of the first wristwatch chronographs in 1936.
Throughout its history, Breitling has pioneered this notion of ‘firsts’: the first wristwatch chrono; the Navitimer with a circular slide rule that would later become indispensable for pilots; and the world’s first self-winding chronograph in 1969.
Now, 140 years later, Breitling looks beyond the paradigms of possibility once more, launching three exclusive new models that combine technical Breitling’s signature precision and aesthetic sophistication; a crucial milestone in Breitling’s enduring horological legacy.

Breitling’s 140th-anniversary collection celebrates the brand’s history with three new spectacular models. It’s a series of firsts for the Swiss Luxury watch brand, delivering contemporary updates to three iconic collections – the Navitimer, Chronomat, and Premier – introducing Breitling’s first in-house perpetual calendar chronograph movement, the Calibre B19.
“The Premier, the Navitimer, and the Chronomat are the most impactful collections in Breitling’s history,” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “We couldn’t single one out to showcase the new Caliber B19 for our anniversary—it had to be all three.”
Fully designed and assembled at the Breitling Chronometrie, the Calibre B19 features novel complications like moon phases and leap year indications – a first for the Swiss luxury Maison – automatically correcting for leap years and months of 28,30, and 31 days.
What’s more, the Calibre B19 can run for nearly a century without any adjustments from the wearer, ensuring precision that can last a lifetime. Of course, perpetual calendars aren’t entirely new to the Swiss brand, but this is the first time Breitling has combined a chronograph with an automatic movement.
Each of these three anniversary models does something to reflect Breitling’s proud heritage of merging innovation with timeless design. The Premier B19 Datora 42 features an 18k red gold case, with a striking black dial and tone-on-tone chronograph counters. Its moonphase display at 12 o’clock — alongside the leap year counter at 6 o’clock — showcases the technical prowess of the Calibre B19 and its automatic adjustments.
The Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 — already famed for its aviation associations — brings back the iconic circular slide rule, encased in 18k red gold; a must-have tool for pilots. Lastly, the Super Chronomat B19 44 introduces a skeletonised grey dial — a first outing for Breitling — and features raised rider tabs along with a black ceramic bezel insert.
