Zero Motorcycles Unveils Its Off-Road-Ready 2024 DSR/X Black Forest Edition

Over the last decade or so, it’s become increasingly commonplace to see stock trucks and SUVs offered in off-road-specific trim levels that come outfitted with a host of go-anywhere upgrades straight off the showroom floor. This same trend is now increasingly permeating the two-wheeled space, as a growing number of motorcycle marques are now offering adventure-ready off-road model variants directly from the factory. And it’s not just gas bikes, as Zero Motorcycles has just gotten in on the action with the debut of the EV moto maker’s 2024 DSR/X Black Forest Edition.

Coming on the heels of the California company’s earlier DSR Black Forest Edition from 2021, the Black Forest-ified version of Zero’s new DSR/X adventure motorcycle gains a slew of factory upgrades to bolster the vehicle’s off-roading prowess and touring capabilities. Riding on a set of spoked wheels shod in knobby Pirelli Scorpion Trail II all-terrain tires, the DSR/X Black Forest Edition features a massive adjustable windscreen, crash bars, a pair of auxiliary spotlights, and a locking three-piece alloy luggage set comprised of a top-case and two rigid side panniers. Unveiled this week at EICMA, this electric adventure motorcycle weighs in at 545lbs.

Constructed around a frame that’s been engineered from the ground-up specifically for hardcore adventure riding, the bike boasts a Showa suspension package affording 7.48” of travel fore and aft. At the heart of the new limited edition Zero is a 75-kW (100-hp) PMAC motor cranking out a generous 169ft-lbs of torque. Equipped with Zero’s largest capacity battery, the Black Forest Edition DSR/X draws from the brand’s Z-Force 17.3-kWh cell, which can be upgrade to a 21-kWh unit. Other optional upgrades such as a skid plate are also available straight from the factory.

Offered exclusively in a black-on-black colorway, the 2024 Zero Motorcycles DSR/X Black Forest Edition is available for order now, with pricing set at £23,450 (~ $28,700).
