WESN’s Ridgeback Is the Coolest Version of the Microblade Keychain Knife

When it comes to keychain knives that are able to mimic what we love about premium full-sized everyday carry cutters, few even come close to the WESN Microblade. Constructed around an actual frame-locking titanium handle, this paragon of tiny folding knives also happens to boast a stubby D2 blade that can be deployed via the integrated and fully functional flipper tab and thumb stud.

While plenty of Microblades have been made in various handle colors and materials, this latest Ridgeback edition is one of the finest we’ve seen thus far, but only 500 are getting made.

Swedish Inspiration

Using the third-generation Microblade as its base, the new Ridgeback Microblade was inspired by the mountainous landscapes of Northern Sweden. First of all, this model swaps out the already-impressive D2 blade steel for a more wear-resistant Böhler M390 stainless steel. It was given a bright yellow thumb stud to evoke the sunrise of the Swedish countryside and balance the dark hues of the knife as a whole.

Drawing your attention the most will be the handle, which now utilizes a hammered titanium texture on one side to represent the aforementioned peaks, while the reverse side is smooth to represent the city side of the area. The texture obviously looks inspired but it will also provide an extra grip for those using the knife. At the base of the handle, the typical lanyard is now a bright yellow to match the thumb stud.

The King of Keychain Knives?

Everything else is the same here, including the 1.5-inch blade length, the 3.75-inch open length, and the 1-ounce weight. Arguably the coolest Microblade variant so far, the Ridgeback brings the idea of covetable grail knives to the world of keychain EDC gear in a big way.
