Unplugged Performance’s UP.FIT division turns the Tesla Cybertruck into the ultimate all-electric tactical patrol vehicle.
Located a literal stone’s throw from Tesla’s design center in Hawthorne, California, Unplugged Performance is a world-leading purveyor of EV upgrades and performance parts. After spending the better part of a decade modifying, upgrading, and racing Teslas, Unplugged Performance was approached by the South Pasadena Police in 2020 and tasked with helping the department convert its fleet of cruisers and patrol vehicles to an all-electric lineup. This Unplugged Performance project with the South Pasadena PD would eventually blossom into a separate division known as UP.FIT.
And after previously debuting law enforcement-specific UP.FIT Tactical packages for the Model Y, Model 3, Model S, and Model X, the Unplugged Performance offshoot has now debuted a police package for the Tesla Cybertruck.
In order to be transformed into a law enforcement vehicle, the already-rugged Cybertruck has been treated to a wide array of modifications and custom parts. The UP.FIT Cybertruck gets a front-mounted bumper and push bar with integrated multi-angle warning lights, a remotely-operated fender-mounted spotlight and wigwag system, a custom-integrated high and low-frequency siren system, an exterior window guard and breakage prevention system, a custom-engineered side-skirt with built-in color warning lights, rear-facing warning lights, rear fender color warning lights, and a roof-mounted, light bar with color warning lights, scene lights, and ally lights. Each Cybertruck also comes adorned in a custom department-specific livery, graphics package, or wrap.
Though its powertrain doesn’t really require any upgrading considering the incredible power and acceleration that it’s already capable of, the team at UP.FIT have opted to treat this next-gen law enforcement vehicle to a few hardware upgrades to help deal with the added weight from all the equipment. This includes an optional set of forged 18” UP.FIT Police Wheels and all-terrain tires, an up-specced braking package, and an off-road package that takes the Cybertruck’s already-impressive go-anywhere capabilities to new heights.
Alongside the basic UP.FIT Tactical conversion for the Cybertruck, the company is also offering a host of available upgrade packages. This includes an optional SWAT package, a supervisor package, a Pursuit Performance Package, a search and rescue pack, and a K9 package. What’s more, in addition to also offering an NIJ 3 Ballistics Protection package, a Starlink Satellite Internet Preparation pack, and an UP.FIT Future Proof Package, UP.FIT gives police departments a myriad of available custom configurations.
The cabin of the UP.FIT Tactical Cybertruck has also been bestowed with a generous slew of upgrades and mods. This includes a fully-customizable array of buttons and toggle switches to control lights and sirens, a custom-programed Whelen Core lights & siren computer, a UV-protective window tint, an UP.FIT Wiring Package, a remote fender-spotlight controller, and a comfort control center with integrated controls.
Representing UP.FIT’s most ballistics-capable Patrol vehicle to date — an impressive feat considering how well-armored its existing cruisers are — the Cybertruck Next-Gen Patrol vehicle may be weighed down by its massive array of equipment and hardware, though the thing still maintains some pretty remarkable performance capabilities. Using the Tri-Motor “Beast” spec, this patrol vehicle cranks out 834hp and 740ft-lbs of instantly-available torque.
Allowing the EV to easily keep up with ne’er-do-wells, whether on or off-road, the UP.FIT Cybertruck patrol vehicle is able to reach 60mph from a complete standstill in just 2.6 seconds — a figure that puts it on-par with a great many of today’s quickest supercars and hypercars. Despite the immense weight of the police-spec Cybertruck, the thing also manages to deliver a range of 340 miles per charge. Considering that a deputy or state police officer regularly travels between 125 and 150 miles per shift, the truck’s 340 miles of autonomy will be more than sufficient for patrol duties.
