Though they operate in very different product spaces, Breitling and Triumph Motorcycles actually have quite a bit in common. In addition to both European brands dating back to the mid-1880s, Triumph and Breitling share an immense passion for mechanics, meticulous craftsmanship, and the ability to seamlessly marry form and function. It’s this list of shared qualities and defining characteristics that lead the two brands join forces in early 2022 to produce a limited, 270-unit run of Breitling Edition Speed Twin motorcycles.
And after the success of the first Breitling Edition bike, the two companies have opted to now team up once again, this time to deliver an even more high-end limited edition bike and a matching chronograph watch that takes its design cues from the limited edition motorcycle. Introducing, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Breitling Limited Edition Motorcycle and Breitling Chronomat B01 Triumph Watch.
The Basics
The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Breitling Limited Edition Motorcycle is a special edition, top-of-the-line version of the Hinckley firm’s existing Speed Triple 1200 RR, which is a high-end and thoroughly modern take on a high-performance cafe racer. The Breitling Chronomat B01 Triumph is a limited edition chronograph watch that represents the highest specification of the timepiece in the watch’s 40-year history. Top-shelf through and through, both of these luxury, limited edition releases share a special colorway and a bevy of design cues.
Special Edition Elements
There are numerous elements that tie this limited edition motorcycle with Triumph and Breitling’s latest collaborative watch release. Not only do the two share a decidedly high-end build quality, but they also both boast numerous titanium elements. Also matching is the watch and motorcycle’s color scheme, which is a black and gray colorway that’s contrasted via gold accents and branding.
Kicking the thing along is a liquid-cooled 1,160cc inline-three engine. This Moto2-derived three-banger cranks out a very respectable 177.6hp and 92.2ft-lbs of torque. These figures allow this 438-pound limited edition motorcycle to do 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds. The engine also comes with a 3-into-one stainless steel exhaust culminating in a Triumph x Akrapovič titanium silencer — a standard amenity on the limited edition bike.
Componentry
Constructed around an aluminum twin-spar chassis paired with an aluminum subframe and a single-sided aluminum swing-arm, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Breitling Limited Edition comes outfitted with some of the finest hardware and components that money can buy. Riding on a set of 17” cast aluminum five-arm y-spoke wheels, the Striple 12 RR Breitling LE features an Öhlins electronically-controlled adaptive smart suspension setup with an inverted 43mm fork and mono-shock both affording 4.7” of travel. Bringing the bike to a stop is a set of equally-premium ABS-equipped Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers. Rounding out the package is a 5” full-color TFT display and scrolling LED indicators fore and aft.
Special Edition Features
The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Breitling Limited Edition sports several unique features that aren’t seen on any other variant of the RR-spec roadster. On top of a special black and gray livery with gold accent and Brandin, this includes a dedicated, model-exclusive Breitling startup screen animation for the bike’s TFT display, a Breitling logo machined into the top triple, and a small plaque that denotes each unit’s production number out of the 270 specimens being made. It doesn’t end there, however, as each limited edition motorcycle also wears a Breitling “B” logo etched onto the center of the bike’s rear wheel — a detail that its single-sided swing-arm puts on full display. The iconic “B” logo is also found on the top of the tank, matching the gold Triumph logos that also adorn the fuel-cell.
Pricing & Availability
Restricted to just 270 units worldwide, the 2024 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Breitling Limited Edition Motorcycle is available for order now. The number of bikes being built appears to be a nod to Triumph’s iconic 270-degree parallel-twin engine. Pricing for the latest Triumph x Breitling motorcycle has been set at $25,995 — only a $5,045 premium over the standard Triple 12 RR.
Triumph and Breitling link up for their second motorcycle collaboration, this time putting a special spin on the already elite Speed Triple 1200 RR.
Breitling Chronomat B01 42 Triumph
Chronomat B01 42 Triumph Basics
Coming on the heels of the Swiss horological outfit and moto marque’s Top Time B01 Triumph watch, the brands’ latest collaborative watch release is known as the Breitling Chronomat B01 42 Triumph. The watch is based on Breitling’s existing Chronomat model — which first debuted in 1984 on Breitling’s centenary — though marks the most top-shelf interoperation of the chronograph in its four decades in production. In addition to sporting various Triumph branding elements, the watch is further distinguished from other Chronomat references via its host of traits and design cues that it shares with Triumph’s latest Breitling Edition motorcycle.
The Case
Water resistant down to 200 meters, the case of the 42mm case of the Chronomat B01 42 Triumph is made from a super premium combination of titanium with genuine 18-karat red gold accents. Clocking in at 15.1mm thick, the housing also features a lug-to-lug measurement of 50.5mm. The top of the watch sports a cambered sapphire crystal with AR-coatings on both sides while the bottom of the timepiece has been capped off with a screw-down exhibition case-back. Additionally, the case has also been outfitted with a dual-gasket, screw-locked 18-karat red gold crown, and a unidirectional-rotating, ratcheted bezel made from a top-shelf amalgamation of titanium and 18-karat red gold.
The Dial
Sporting a triple register dial layout — which is no doubt a nod to the inline-three-cylinder engine found in the motorcycle — the dial of the Chronomat B01 42 Triumph boasts an anthracite face that’s contrasted via a trio of black sub-dials. An interior bezel also features Triumph Motorcycle’s “For The Ride” slogan. The most noteworthy aspect of the dial, however, is almost certainly its hand-set — which consists of sword-style hour and minute hands, and an arrow-style seconds hand with a Triumph shield logo counterweight. Additionally, the dial is also adorned in Super-LumiNova luminescent paint, plus it features a date window at 6 o’clock and 18 karat gold markers at every hour.
The Movement
Keeping the Chronomat B01 42 Triumph ticking is Swiss horological outfit’s Breitling 01 Manufacture movement. Comprised of 320 components in total, this meticulous-crafted self-winding mechanical movement features 47 jewels and a 28,800 v.p.h. beat rate. COSC-certified, this in-house movement is also on full display thanks to an exhibition case-back.
The Strap
Set on 22mm lugs, the Breitling Chronomat B01 42 Triumph’s strap consists of a premium brown calfskin leather item with khaki-colored accent stitching and a yellow leather interior lining. Decorated via a number of vintage-inspired perforations, the strap also comes fitted with a folding clasp with a titanium buckle.
Owners Edition
On top of the limited run of Chronomat B01 42 Triumph watches — which are available to the general public — Breitling is also offering each buyer of the Speed Triple 1200 RR Breitling Limited Edition Motorcycle the option to purchase a special, even more exclusive version of the Chronomat B01 42 Triumph that features a carbon dial and a case-back engraved with the owner’s motorcycle’s unique production number. This super elite Triumph x Breitling chronograph is known as reference TB01341A1B1P1.
