30-year-old whiskies are inherently rare, with most casks never making that long before bottling. Now in its third batch, The Glenallachie’s 30-Year Cask Strength release is both rare and popular. This expression is made up of whiskies from eight Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso Sherry, and virgin oak casks, hand-selected by Master Blender Billy Walker. Scents of roasted almonds, orchard fruits, and worn leather are present as one raises the dark mahogany spirit, only to be followed by flavors of hazelnut, citrus fruits, and toffee brittle, with cinnamon and chocolate on the lasting finish. Presented at 48.9% ABV, Batch 3 is limited to just 2,400 bottles worldwide.
