Roger Moore’s OMEGA Seamaster 50th Anniversary James Bond Watch Is up for Auction

Sir Roger Moore had a prolific acting career that spanned the better part of a century, a small part of which centered on a seven-film stint as James Bond. Following his passing in 2017, many of the British star’s personal items are now being auctioned off via Bonhams, including watches, awards, movie posters, and costumes worn on-screen. The highlight of the 180-lot catalog is none other than Moore’s OMEGA Seamaster made specifically for the 50th anniversary of 007 in cinema.

When it comes to the actors who played James Bond, everyone has their own favorite. There’s no denying the impact of the original benchmark performances by Sean Connery, nor is there escaping the brilliance of Daniel Craig’s recent outings which allowed for a more grandiose experience watching 007 on the big screen. However, some would argue that Roger Moore should hold the top spot on any list, simply for imbuing the role with his own charisma and wit, finally offering some comfort to audiences after Connery’s departure. From Live and Let to Die to The Spy Who Loved Me to even the shameless Star Wars knock-off Moonraker, Moore gave Bond a bit of an edge without turning off loyal fans.

Made in 2012, Moore’s OMEGA Seamaster 300M is a special piece indeed. Limited to just 11,007 examples, the actor’s personal iteration is engraved on the stainless steel clasp, reading, “ To Roger love from Michael and Barbara,” implying this was a gift from Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, longtime Bond producers. Aside from the personal markings, the timepiece sports a 41mm stainless steel case with a black ceramic bezel surrounding the black dial, which repeats a “007” pattern all throughout. Showcasing the automatic caliber 2507 movement with a calendar function, the open caseback features the Bond gun barrel icon with a bullet on the rotor.

Estimated to sell between £20,000 and £30,000 (~$25,428 and $38,142), Roger Moore’s limited-edition OMEGA Seamaster James Bond 50th Anniversary watch goes on sale October 4 from Bonhams auction house.
