Understanding your relationship struggles is important for change to happen.

  1. Is there too much drama in all of your partnerships?
  2. Are you attracting the same types over and over again? Do you understand that there is a problem?
  3. Do you just jump back in and go onto the next person soon after a breakup?
  4. Are you continually wondering why you are single once again?
  5. Have your past connections been one-sided in many aspects of the partnership?
  6. Is it a constant struggle to communicate or to be understood in most of your relationships?
  7. Do you choose partner’s who are emotionally unavailable?
  8. Are you addicted to the chase of winning someone over? Then once they are with you, you are no longer interested?
  9. Have you mistaken controlling behaviour for confidence in a partner?
  10. Is powerful sexual chemistry the most important thing for you in a relationship?

If your partnerships are always ending in a similar manner, you’re avoiding the real issue. 

Be honest with yourself. Are you are in denial about who you choose to date and the part you play in your relationships? When you are attracted to the same type repeatedly, you will continue to make the same mistakes. It is important to learn the lessons that dating teaches you to remove negative behaviours from resurfacing.

It takes two people with reciprocated values and goals to make a relationship successful. There has to be a strong foundation and a healthy communicative connection. If this is lacking in most of your relationships, you will keep repeating a bad pattern. Many people prioritize sexual chemistry above everything else when choosing who to date. It often comes at the expense of long-term compatibility.

Patterns reveal what we tolerate, avoid or fail to recognize in ourselves. The common denominator in every relationship is you. You are the one who is choosing the same type of partner and ignoring the red flags. The most important focus should be on yourself when you repeat unhealthy or dysfunctional partnerships. It is about changing how you show up and what you accept in a relationship.

How do you finally break this cycle in your relationships?

First, take a good hard look at yourself. Then, analyze your actions. What keeps repeating? Patterns won’t break until you clearly see why they keep you stuck. Taking time out from dating or being in a relationship will give you some clarity. When you step away and slow things down, you will start to see the unhealthy patterns.

Eventually, you will recognize what you have allowed. If you have been accepting bad behavior in many of your partnerships it is time to implement stronger boundaries. Patterns thrive where boundaries are weak.

Take responsibility but don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s not about blame, it is about awareness.

Once you see the problems, you have the power to choose differently. Be mindful of spending too much time pursuing a high maintenance checklist. Doing so overlooks the fundamentals that form a strong and loving relationship! Too many people get lost in the trivial and superficial traits that they think are important!

It’s time to investigate why you are choosing the wrong people and revise your priorities. Step away from that quicksand you keep having to dig yourself out of. Relationships shouldn’t be a constant struggle. You shouldn’t have to give up “who you are” to be in a partnership.

When a relationship is right, it flows and you work side by side to keep the communication lines open. It is not a drama filled scenario, it is a loving and safe place to be. ❤️️
