Real Talk on Dating and Relationships

This must be reciprocated early on between a couple to give a potential relationship a fair chance. Unfortunately, lying or embellishing the truth on dating profiles is common today. Sadly, this behavior keeps people from finding a true partnership. No one can keep up the pretense for too long without being discovered.

The truth usually comes out, though often not before someone is already emotionally invested in the relationship. This causes a lot of heartbreak when it happens regularly. Living as a pretentious version of yourself is exhausting and very deceitful to the person you are dating. Real relationships only grow from honesty, not a performance.

Red flags are getting easier to spot today and many people aren’t hanging around waiting for someone to be real. They are starting to walk away much faster due to helpful online tools, dating/relationship blogs and videos. Understanding your self-worth and maintaining strong boundaries is crucial when dating.

Being real builds trust with the person you are dating.

It is important to show up on a date with honest sincerity. It is a strength when you believe that you are enough without having to edit who you are. You are confidently in tune and proud of who you are even when you stand alone. When you live authentically, you will attract people who genuinely align with you. Whatever energy you put out is the energy you will get back.

When you don’t connect naturally with someone, your instincts will feel it right away. Unfortunately that inner voice is often ignored. This is where dating experiences are valuable lessons. The trick is to learn them quickly and not repeat unhealthy scenarios.

Some people have a dating pattern but are not aware that they do. They go back and forth repeating the same mistakes because they are familiar with it. If all your dating experiences and relationships end the same way, you need to focus on changing that.

How do you know if someone is being authentic with you?

  1. Their words match their actions! They follow through on any plans made.
  2. They respect you and are consistent in how they treat you and other people they interact with.
  3. There is consistency in how they present themselves each time you see them.
  4. They are clear and transparent about what they want in their life.
  5. There are no guessing games about what they are looking for in a partnership.
  6. They have their own opinions but also honour yours. They are not trying to mold you into being someone you’re not.
  7. You don’t walk away confused after a date. The communication is open and thoughtful. They have no problem setting up another date or texting you that they enjoyed your company. They were also honest if they felt you weren’t compatible as a couple. They don’t leave you hanging.
  8. They embrace vulnerability with a rare level of honesty and emotional courage.
  9. There is reciprocated communication. You have similar values and goals. They show a genuine interest in you and listen to what you have to say and visa versa.
  10. There is a sincerity about them that makes you feel comfortable and safe when you spend time together.

Being authentic allows deeper conversations and offers emotional safety.

In a world where dating often feels like a performance, being real sets the foundation to have a meaningful connection. The strongest relationship bonds aren’t built on perfection. They are built on the courage to be yourself. You understand the importance of being true to yourself and a potential partner.

This encourages honest conversations, and emotional security between a couple. You are on the same path with relationship goals and expectations. There are no games being played and little confusion or uncertainty about where you stand with one another.

When you are on the right path in a new relationship, there’s a natural sense of ease. This allows both people to be themselves without pretense. Intentions are clear and the communication flows in a reciprocated manner. There is no second guessing each other because shared values naturally reveal themselves as the relationship progresses.

When a partnership is authentic and honest, it has the strongest chance to evolve into something meaningful and long lasting.
