Porsche Teases Upcoming 2025 All-Electric Macan

First unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2013 before entering production the following year, the Porsche Macan is an incredibly popular luxury crossover SUV that, over the last decade, has become the Stuttgart firm’s best-selling model — and by a pretty significant margin. And, while the Macan has received several tweaks and facelifts over its years in production — most recently in 2019 and 2021 — Porsche has now announced that it will soon be bestowing the crossover with its most noteworthy update to date, as it’s poised to soon release a fully-electric Macan.

Rather than simply electrifying the existing crossover, Porsche has opted to deliver a completely redesigned model from the ground up. The first model to be built atop the marque’s new Premium Platform Electric architecture, the Macan EV features a sleeker, redesigned body that was meticulously developed in Porsche’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel. Utilizing Porshe’s Active Aerodynamics system, this sleek body design manages to achieve an impressive drag coefficient of 0.25 — making it one of the most slippery crossovers ever produced.  has also been incorporated into the vehicle. In place of the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that power the current Macan lineup, Porsche has bestowed the electrified version of the crossover with the latest generation of its permanently-excited PSM motors on the front and rear axles.

Good for 450kW (603hp) and 737.5ft-lbs of torque, this dual-motor setup draws from a new 800-volt Lithium-ion battery architecture that not only affords a range of around 310 miles per charge, but is also able to receive a 10% to 80% charge in under 22 minutes when using a 400-volt charging station. Despite its turbocharged four and six-cylinder engine options being swapped out, Porsche has gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the electrified Macan is able to deliver the same high levels of performance that’s made the existing version of the crossover so immensely popular. In addition to its state-of-the-art EV powertrain, the electric Macan’s performance capabilities have also been bolstered via the addition of the Porsche Active Suspension Management system, two-valve damper technology, air suspension, rear-axle transverse lock, and rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to five degrees — the latter of which is a model first.

The 2025 Porsche Macan EV is scheduled to be fully revealed on January 25, 2024. Production will presumably follow within a year or so.
