Pompeii Trojan War Frescoes | Uncrate

Nearly 2,000 years after it was buried in the ash of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii continues to surprise. One of the latest archaeological findings is a well-preserved banquet room with black walls, frescoes, and mosaics. Found in block 10 of Regio IX, the room is decorated with Third Style artworks depicting heroes and deities involved in the Trojan War and mythology, which are thought to have been meant to spur conversation at dinners and gatherings. Overall, the room measures roughly 50 feet by 20 feet and opens onto a courtyard.
