Pagani Unleashes the 900-HP Huayra R Evo

Since first debuting in 2011, the Pagani Huayra has stood as one of the most extreme and high-performance hypercars that money can buy, with very few other vehicles being able to match the performance of the mighty Huayra. In the years that have followed, the Italian hypercar-maker has slowly ratcheted-up the Huayra’s already-world-class performance with a steadily-growing range of different model variants. And the latest iteration of the hypercar to break cover is quite possibly the most noteworthy to date, as the newly-unveiled Pagani Huayra Evo R is the most powerful version of the car ever built.

Aiming to squeeze even more power and potential from the brand’s flagship hypercar, the Huayra R Evo was born out of a strategic partnership between Pagani and Affalterbach-based race outfit HWA AG. Weighing in at 2,337lbs, the R Evo-spec is constructed around a monocoque crafted from state-of-the-art Carbo-Titanium HP62 G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62. This advanced chassis is paired with an updated forged aluminum alloy independent double wishbone suspension with helical springs and electronically controlled shock absorbers that now benefits from improved stability and precision. At the heart of the hypercar is Pagani’s and HWA’s upgraded and enhanced V12-R Evo engine. Sending 900hp and 568ft-lbs of torque to the vehicles rear wheels, this new naturally aspirated 6.0-liter powertrain revs to 9,200 and enables the car to reach speeds of up to 218mph. Bolted to the V12 is a six-speed sequential gearbox with a three-sintered metal disc racing clutch that was also codeveloped by HWA.

Utilizing an open-top ‘Codalunga’ (long-tail) design, the Huayra R Evo also features a redesigned aero kit that sees downforce increased by a whopping 45%. Taking inspiration from both IndyCar racing cars and historic Le Mans vehicles, this new model also sports a custom race-inspired livery. To compensate for the hypercar’s increased power, Pagani has bestowed it with top-of-the-line a Brembo CCM-R self-ventilated carbon-ceramic braking system with six-pot calipers and bespoke racing pads. The entire vehicle also rides on a forged monolithic aluminum alloy wheel-set (19” front, 20” rear). Sporting carbon fiber extractors, these wheels come shod in custom-developed Pirelli P ZeroTM Slick tires. The Huayra R Evo is the latest addition to Pagani’s Arte in Pista program — an  exclusive club and range of events for Zonda R, Zonda Revolució, and now Huayra R Evo owners comprised of non-competitive track sessions held at the world’s most prestigious FIA circuits.

At the time of writing, Pagani has yet to release information of the Pagani Huayra Evo R’s production or pricing.
