Outside Van Unveils the Off-Road-Ready Slim Chance Camper

While previously dominated by only a handful of companies, the adventure camper van space has absolutely exploded in recent years, resulting in this once-niche space being inundated with an ever-growing number of increasingly-well-appointed turnkey go-anywhere camper rigs — one of the latest of which to break cover is the all-new Slim Chance off-road camper from Outside Van.

Based on the 2023 model year Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144 (144” wheel base) and sporting an AWD setup, the Outside Van Slim Chance camper has been engineered from the ground up to lend itself to an outdoor and adventure-focused lifestyle. As such, the camper comes loaded with storage space for gear and equipment, while still boasting a slew of crucial amenities and creature comforts. Standard equipment found inside the Slim Chance includes 3M Thinsulate wall insulation, marine-grade 0.75” plywood flooring, mahogany luan plywood walls and ceilings, LED overhead and accent lighting, a touchscreen-equipped sPod 8 Circuit SE system, an onboard 945Ah Lithium power system with a 2,000-watt Magnum inverter, an Espar Airtronic diesel furnace, a rooftop AC unit, a 20-gallon freshwater tank, an exterior shower hookup, a Murphy bed with an accordion-folding mattress, onboard wireless device chargers, a JL audio system, a Midland two-way radio, rear door stuff sacks, numerous MOLLE panels, Terrawagon flares, an onboard ARB air compressor, a Weboost cell signal booster, and a premium gallery kitchen complete with sink, induction cooktop, and refrigerator.

Built to tackle a wide variety of off-road terrain types and conditions, this four-season adventure camper has been outfitted with an enormous slew of top-shelf off-road upgrades. This includes a Yakima SkyBox, a Fiamma Awning, a steel off-road front bumper, a rear step bumper, a utility ladder, an Owl Vans Sherpa cargo carrier, a pair of 45-watt solar panels, and a set of 6” fog lights, side lights, ditch lights, rock lights, and a 50” light-bar, all courtesy of RIGID Industries. Riding on 16” Black Rhino Atlas wheels shod in BFGoodrich T/A K02 tires, the Slim Chance also benefits from an Agile RIP Kit with FOX Shocks, as well as a No Rub Kit, a skid plate, and a rear door tire carrier, also from Agile. Lastly, the whole rig also comes adorned in a bespoke wrap from Oregon Design Co.

The Outside Van Slim Chance Camper Van is available for order now, with pricing set at $308,000 — a figure that includes the cost of the $49,900 Mercedes Sprinter donor.
