Ming’s LW.01 is billed as the world’s lightest mechanical watch, weighing in at 8.8 and 10.8 grams for the manual and automatic movements respectively. A combined dial ring and movement in a ribbed holder are supported by struts and made from AZ31 Magnesium-Aluminium-Zinc-Manganese alloy to minimize weight. A plasmaelectrolytic oxidation coating prevents corrosion and skin reactions, with another composite protective layer. The crystal is Corning Gorilla Glass 6 with an additional hardening treatment, again to reduce weight. A total of 200 LW.01 watches will be produced.
