Maserati Unveils the 2025 GranCabrio Convertible

Towards the tail-end of 2020, Maserati debuted the Nettuno V6 — an all-new “Made-in-Modena” forced-induction six-cylinder engine that adopts a slew of elements derived from Formula 1 racers including a pre-combustion chamber setup, a lateral sparkplug configuration, and a twin injection system. Over the last few years, the Trident marque has used the Nettuno across a myriad of its new models — the latest of which to break cover is the 2025 model year Maserati GranCabrio.

The new Maserati GranCabrio is a spider version of the Modena manufacturer’s existing GranTurismo model with a cloth roof that can be raised in lowered in just 16 and 14 seconds, respectively. Able to be erected or taken down while moving at speeds of up to 31mph, the cloth-top can also be controlled via traditional centrally-located buttons or by using gesture controls. Made entirely in Italy, the new droptop model has also been bestowed with an innovative neck warmer system that blows heat towards the driver and passenger’s necks, as well as rear wind deflectors — the former of which comes as standard while the latter is an optional amenity. Also of note is the fact that the GranCabrio features four full-sized adult seats — unlike a great many exotics with rear seats that can only fit small children.

As touched on above, the Maserati GranCabrio is powered by the Italian firm’s new Nettuno V6 platform. Unlike its hardtop counterpart, the droptop is only being offered in Maserati’s range-topping Trofeo-spec. As such, it shares the GranTurismo Trofeo’s same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 setup and makes the same 542hp and 460ft-lbs of torque. With its added weight, the convertible’s top speed of 196mph is slightly down from the hardtop’s 199-mph figure, and we imagine its 0-60mph time will also be just behind the GranTurismo Trofeo’s 3.3-second figure. The Nettuno V6 comes paired with a paddle-shifted transmission that sends power to an advanced all-wheel drive system. Loaded with cutting-edge tech, the new grand touring convertible also boasts the Maserati Intelligent Assistant Multimedia system, an available Head-Up display, and a state-of-the-art 16-speaker Sonus faber 3D sound system. Also included is a race-derived launch control system and four drive modes.

Thus far, there’s been no information on when the 2025 Maserati GranCabrio will be available for sale. The company also has yet to reveal any info on pricing, though we expect it to carry an MSRP that’s fairly close to the $190,000 starting price of the GranTurismo Trofeo.
