Elite auto brands make vehicles for customers seeking a world class combination of luxury, style, and performance. For clients wanting something even more exclusive, quite a few marques have introduced bespoke vehicle building programs — the latest of which is Lotus which has just announced Lotus Chapman Bespoke. In addition to this new division, the company has also revealed the first model that will be eligible for this bespoke building program, the Eletre Carbon Hyper-SUV.
The Basics
The Eletre Carbon is a new range-topping version of Lotus’ fully-electric hyper SUV — which also happens to be the world’s fastest dual-motor SUV. Used to introduce the marque’s new bespoke vehicle building program, this factory-upgraded model gains a host of exterior upgrades, a customizable interior, and a huge increase in performance.
Exterior Upgrades
As you probably assumed, the Eletre Carbon’s exterior gains numerous exposed carbon fiber components, giving the hyper SUV an even more exotic overall look and feel. These carbon fiber pieces complement the Eletre Carbon’s model-exclusive satin black paint.
Improved Powertrain
Lotus’ new Carbon-spec Eletre doesn’t just gain a few carbon fiber bits, and has also been bestowed with a pretty serious boost in performance. In place of the normal model’s 603-hp powertrain, the range-topping Carbon version gets an upgraded dual-motor system cranking out 905hp.
Customizable Cabin
The interior of the Eletre Carbon comes trimmed in the buyer’s choice of either black, light grey, or dark brown leather, all courtesy of Bridge of Weir. The cabin also gets seating with a dynamic quilting design, a carbon fiber steering wheel finished in charcoal Alcantara, and a carbon fiber trim package.
This increase in power unlocks the ability for the hyper SUV to clock 0-60mph runs in just 2.95 seconds — down from the base model Eletre’s 4.5-second time. Top speed has also been increased from 160mph to 165. The bolstered performance capabilities do come at the cost of having a bit less range — now offering somewhere between 254 and 280 miles instead of the base model’s 304 to 373 miles.
Additional Up-Specced Elements
Rounding out the Eletre Carbon is a series of performance parts and other upgrades. This includes standard rear-wheel steering, a rear bias torque split, and active roll control. What’s more, on top of half-a-dozen available drive modes including Touring Sport, Track, and Off-Road, this limited edition model is also sold with the option of available 10-piston carbon-ceramic brakes with massive 420mm discs, too.
Bespoke-Built
For the first time, this new Lotus model will give customers the option of having their vehicle built with a wide range of available custom-configurable options through the brand’s new Lotus Chapman Bespoke program. This includes elements such as custom paint options, various upgraded wheel options, bespoke trim packages, custom badging, and so on.
What Makes It Special
The Eletre is already a really impressive vehicle in its base model form, but the new Carbon-spec takes pretty much everything that makes it special — its exotic looks, its impressive speed and acceleration, its luxurious nature, its top-of-the-line hardware, and its overall exclusivity — and cranks them up several notches. And, with over 900hp on tap and a sub-3-second 0-60mph time, it pushes this version of the vehicle squarely into hyper-SUV territory.
