There is an undeniable charm to vintage Land Rovers and when these classics are restored and brought into the 21st century in style, the appeal goes through the roof in our opinion here at Coolector HQ. There are few better examples of this in action than this breathtaking 1968 Land Rover Series IIa 88 from the guys at Legacy Overland. Codenamed “Project Hitchcock”, this spectacular build sees classic elegance meet modern power.

Legacy Overland’s Land Rover Series II 88 now boasts an incredibly robust 300 TDI engine and perfectly precise R380 gearbox which can essentially be seen as a heart transplant that guarantees both enhanced reliability and unparalleled performance. Meticulous mechanical rebuilds, galvanization, and thoughtful interior touches come together to truly elevate this classic for a new era of adventure out on the open road.

The chassis and body components of Legacy Overland’s Project Hitchcock have been galvanised to help prevent corrosion, ensuring that it will last for many years to come. The interior of this stunning Land Rover features leather seats with Harris Tweed inserts, which exude classic British sophistication and old-school cool in spades. The wooden-rimmed steering wheel with a black metal centre, which features a custom badge, is a tribute to the Land Rover’s storied history.

The engine is painted an understated and effortlessly cool duck egg blue, which adds a touch of vintage charm to proceedings. The snub-nose R380 5-speed manual gearbox, paired with an original rebuilt transfer case, ensures a smooth and reliable drive.

The radiator features an intercooler and silicone tubing, which keeps the engine running at its best. The battery is placed under the driver’s seat, and there is a hidden kill switch for security. Every detail has been considered in the design of this Land Rover. Love old school Land Rovers meticulously repaired and restored?
