Devium USA Apparel | The Coolector

The resurgence of American-made goods in the late 2000s marked a turning point for domestic manufacturing, with brands championing the quality and craftsmanship of “Made in USA” products. While many have since moved their production overseas due to the challenges and costs of local manufacturing, Devium has remained committed to keeping their entire operation stateside. They are a brand that embodies resilience, passion, and a steadfast belief in the value of American craftsmanship.

Devium’s collection, which they call their “small batch originals,” includes everything from well-cut tees and knits to outerwear, shirts, chinos, and even footwear—all 100% made in the USA. Their dedication to domestic production goes beyond a marketing tagline; it’s a core part of their DNA. From fibre to tag, every element of their clothing is sourced and crafted on American soil, a rarity in today’s fashion landscape.

The story of Devium is anything but a straightforward journey. Founded by mother-and-son duo Sheri and Cody Benjamin, Devium originally set out to create snowboard jackets in 2014. Cody, a double black diamond snowboarder, had the vision, while Sheri brought the business acumen, having previously grown and sold a marketing agency. However, they soon discovered that producing technical outerwear domestically was nearly impossible at their scale. The manufacturing landscape made it clear that such products would have to be made in China, with the associated challenges of quality control, sourcing, and logistics.

Faced with this realization, Cody and Sheri decided to pivot. On June 15, 2015—Flag Day—Devium’s new vision was born. They shifted their focus to something that could be made closer to home, and that was workwear—high-quality, durable clothing made from natural fibres. This direction not only aligned with their values but also allowed them to maintain full transparency and control over their production process.

Devium’s commitment to 100% American-made products goes beyond industry standards. Legally, a product must have a domestic value of at least 70% to be labelled “Made in USA,” but Devium adheres to a stricter standard. Their goal is to make everything Berry Compliant—a 1941 law ensuring that all clothing sourced by the Department of Defense is entirely made in the USA. Their first product, a trucker jacket, was produced in Southern California, and since then, the collection has expanded to include flannels, chinos, windbreakers, and more.

Devium continues to develop its collection from its headquarters in Truckee, California. They’ve made multiple trips across the country to work closely with mills and manufacturers, building strong relationships and ensuring that every piece meets their exacting standards. And while their production scale may be small, their ambitions are anything but. Devium’s approach is about more than just making clothes—it’s about creating timeless pieces that tell a story, pieces that are built to last and that reflect the spirit of American craftsmanship.

The brand’s dedication doesn’t stop at the point of sale. Devium stands by its products with a promise to repair or replace any item if an issue arises. Many of their pieces are available year-round, so you can rest assured that your favourite flannel or pair of chinos will be there season after season. Devium is in it for the long haul, making clothing that’s meant to be lived in, loved, and passed down—a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality and the belief that American-made is worth fighting for.
