BMW Rolls Out the 2024 M 1000 XR Motorcycle

In late 2020, BMW finally rolled out its first-ever M Class motorcycle with the M 1000 RR. And after debuting a naked version of the M-spec superbike with the M 1000 R, BMW then teased a forthcoming M Class version of the Bavarian brand’s S 1000 XR sport-tourer and all-arounder back in June. Fast forward a few short months later to today, and the German marque has now unveiled its third addition to the BMW Motorrad M Class lineup with the high-performance M 1000 XR.

Despite being a sport-tourer, the M 1000 XR benefits from a host of features and components that have trickled down from BMW’s WSBK race program — not unlike the M 1000 RR superbike. At the heart of the bike is the same liquid-cooled 999cc ShiftCam tech-equipped inline-four found in the normal S1KXR, however, the M-spec’s four-banger has been tuned to put down 201hp and 83ft-lbs of torque — a major bump over the S-spec’s 170hp output. The bike’s frame has been paired with a high-end suspension package that works in conjunction with BMW’s Dynamic Damping Control system — which comes as standard.

The M 1000 XR also comes loaded with an optimized intake with variable intake runners, revised, shorter gearing, an M Endurance chain, a top-of-the-line titanium Akrapovič silencer with a carbon fiber end-cap, M levers, forged aluminum wheels, and M winglets generating over 40lbs of downforce at top speed — all as standard. Additionally, BMW is also offering a wide range of optional upgrades from race packages to M-specific Carbon wheels. Helping to keep its 200-hp mill in check is a bevy of ride modes, M-specific braking hardware, and a wildly advanced suite of electronic rider aids all regulated via a six-axis IMU. Other tech-related highlights include Hill Start Control Pro, launch control, a 6.5” TFT display, and a data logger.

Scheduled for a launch in Q2 of next year, the 2024 BMW M 1000 XR motorcycle has been priced starting from $24,295. Additionally, BMW has also rolled out an updated version of the S 1000 XR for the 2024 model year.
