Bang & Olufsen Unveils Modernized Beosystem 9000c CD Player

In 1995, designer David Lewis happened to be walking by a record shop and noticed half-a-dozen CDs arranged in a row vertically in the window. This ultimately inspired Lewis to eventually design the six-disc Beosound 9000 CD player for bang & Olufsen. Now, 28-year-later, and Danish audio brand has tasked its Recreated Classics Programme with delivering a modernized take on the iconic CD changer, leading to the debut of the new and improved Bang & Olufsen Beosound 9000c Recreated Classic Edition.

Managing to build on Lewis’ design from 1996, this modernized iconic vertical CD player offers a stunning combination of world-class acoustics and beautiful aesthetics. Sold with a set of equally premium Beolab 28 retro-inspired speakers, this decidedly cutting-edge CD player is part audio gear and part work of art. Just like the original, the new Beosound 9000c sports a ‘90s-style digital control panel and room for six discs. Affording ultra-crisp audio is a hand-selected transducer setup with a single 1” tweeter, a trio of 3” full-range drivers, a lone 6.5” woofer — all backed by 100 and 225-watt class D amps. In total the system boast a collective 625 watts.

Modernized in just about every way possible beneath the surface, the Beosound 9000c also hugely benefits from the addition of Active Room Compensation, Adaptive Bass Linearization, Beam Width Control, and Thermal Protection, just to name a few of its super-advanced features. Set atop a new anodized aluminum floor stand, the entire thing is made from a top-shelf amalgamation of aluminum, polymer and glass. In total, the CD player tips the scales at over 50lbs. Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and compatible with the Bang & Olufsen app, this CD player can also have its EQ remotely customized using a smartphone.

The Bang & Olufsen Beosystem 9000c is available now in limited numbers, with pricing set at $55,000.
