In 1994 — just four years after the debut of its first-ever S-spec model (the S2 Coupe) — Audi introduced the motoring world to its inaugural RS-badged vehicle with the RS 2 Avant. The RS line represented the Four Rings brand’s most capable, high-performance automotive offerings. Fast forward to today, 30 years after the introduction of the first RS model, and the marque has now revealed its most powerful RS model to date — and the most powerful production car period — with the new Audi RS e-tron GT performance.
Audi’s Most Powertrain To Date
The 2025 RS e-tron GT performance is kicked along by a heavily-revised dual-motor setup with drive units at the front and rear axles. Up front there’s a 252-kW (338-hp) permanent-magnet synchronous motor with a reinforced driveshaft while out back there’s now a newly developed 415-kW PSM cranking out an additional 556.5hp. In total, the dual-motor setup generates a collective 894.5hp — though it also has the ability to unlock up to 912hp, albeit only for brief stints. Regardless, the roughly 900-hp output makes the new RS e-tron GT performance the most powerful production car Audi has ever made.
Updated Battery
Benefitting from new battery cell chemistry and adapted thermal management, the powertrain draws from a heavily-revised battery pack with a gross storage capacity of 105 kWh, thereby allowing for higher energy capacity, higher charging, and improved driving currents. What’s more, the maximum charging currents have been bumped up to 400 amps.
Performance-Focused Tech
As a cutting-edge electric vehicle, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear that this electric supercar is brimming with trick high-tech features. This includes dynamic one-pedal driving and Audi’s drive select dynamic handling system that allows the driver to select parameters for drive, suspension, sound, and ride height. The vehicle also comes loaded with new power reserves that allow it to unlock up to 912hp for brief stints using the launch control function or push-to-pass button.
Performance Capabilities
Audi has yet to reveal performance metrics for the 2025 model year RS e-tron GT performance, but with the new flagship generating substantially more power than its predecessor, it’s safe to assume it’s speed and acceleration are also superior — and probably by a pretty decent margin. As such, we know the 2025 model year vehicle will boast a sub-3-second 0-60mph time and a top speed of at least 155mph. We also anticipate a range of at least 250 miles per charge.
State-Of-The-Art Suspension
The 2025 model year RS e-tron GT performance boasts an all-new air suspension system with dual-chamber/dual-valve technology as standard. This suspension setup aims to maximize cornering and performance while still making for a comfortable daily driver. For those wanting even more performance, Audi is allowing customers to option the EV with an industry-first wheel-selective active suspension system.
New Matte Darkened & Carbon Camo
Furthering the already-exotic nature of Audi’s new flagship model is an available array of matte darkened carbon and carbon camouflage elements including optional exposed-carbon bumper inlays, rocker panel, diffuser trim, and side mirrors. The RS-spec EV is also being offered in a new model-exclusive Bedford Green livery.
