Audemars Piguet Collabs with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack on Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked Watch

Although Audemars Piguet debuted the Royal Oak back in 1972, it was in the late ‘90s, with lyrical references from Jay-Z, that the watchmaker and the world of hip-hop became indefinitely linked. In the past couple of decades, seemingly every successful rapper has been name-dropping the Swiss luxury brand. It makes perfect sense, considering the Royal Oak itself has become a symbol of wealth and bravado. Well, AP has reciprocated the line of communication and has now collaborated with one of the most dominant emcees of his era.

For the past ten years, Travis Scott has become synonymous with the evolving sounds of rap music, and in 2017, he launched his own record label, Cactus Jack. Today, he’s been tapped by AP on a subtle yet unique take on the already-striking Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked timepiece. The first thing you’ll notice is the chocolate brown color of the 41mm ceramic case and its white gold hexagonal screws, along with the matching brown denim-textured calfskin leather strap.

While the timepiece is powered with the same Calibre 5135 automatic movement — which has been skeletonized here so you can view the 22K pink gold oscillating weight bearing the Cactus Jack logo — the dial design has been touched up a bit. For the minute track and the three calendar subdials, the watche features typography based on a hand-drawn model by Scott himself. The hand on the days-of-the-week dial is the same Cactus Jack signature as the one on the movement. However, it’s the moon phase subdial that has the biggest change. Instead of the standard Moon image, it sports the record label’s smiley face with sewn eyes and mouth.

Limited to just 200 pieces, the Audemars Piguet x Travis Scott Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked Cactus Jack is priced at $201,000. Head over to AP’s website to learn more.
