Dec 15, 20241975 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe RHD
A rare right-hand configuration of the 1975 Porsche 911 Turbo (930) is going up for auction this weekend, with original paint and engine.
The ‘70s were very kind to Porsche. Starting the decade with a spark in 1970 with its first win (of five that decade alone) at Le Mans, the German marque also started implementing more power with its road cars as well. This led to the first turbocharged 911 in 1975, dubbed the 930, which also happened to be the nation’s fastest production car at the time.
The 911 Turbo was originally made as a homologation special for Porsche’s entry into Group 4 racing, winning its class that year at Le Mans, as well as the GTX Experimental class. This weekend, a rare early right-hand-drive version of the 930 coupe is going under the hammer at Collins of Bangkok auction house, and we have some details for you.
As one of the earliest Turbo examples in Porsche history, this red-brown-bodied 930 is number 264 of just 400 first-lot 911 Turbos made in ‘75. Only about 5% of these were made with right-hand specifications (so around 20 cars), being that Germany was and still is a left-hand-drive nation.
The example up for auction features its original bodyshell with wide fenders and whale spoiler, along with a matching-number engine. Under the hood is the Porsche 3.0-liter flat-six engine, which delivers 260hp and is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.
Purportedly the only 930 to leave the factory in this “Raspberry” paint (code 024), this no.264 is also contrasted with a blue leather interior and factory-fitted chrome trim package. From the pictures, you can see tartan in the door paneling as well.
Driving this Porsche will certainly evoke nostalgia for anyone who gets behind the (right-hand-drive) wheel. This will be a great addition to any enthusiast’s collection.
