Nov 15, 20242025 AC Cars Cobra GT Coupe Lineup
AC Cars rolls out an even lighter and nimbler, hardtop version of its next-gen carbon-bodied Cobra model with up to 799hp on tap.
In late 2022, British firm AC Cars announced to the world that it would soon be releasing a thoroughly modernized, completely redesigned generation of its legendary Cobra model. Aiming to maintain the Cobra’s iconic appearance while ushering in a host of contemporary features, systems, and technology, the new AC Cobra GT Roadster would break cover in the Spring of 2023.
And after the success of this next-gen droptop, AC Cars has now revealed a new hardtop variant of its retro-inspired carbon-bodied flagship with the AC Cars Cobra GT Coupe.
Right out of the gate, the 2025 AC Cars Cobra GT Coupe is being offered across multiple trim levels. Known simply as the GT Coupe, the “base model” AC Cobra is kicked along by a naturally-aspirated V8 engine that’s good for around 450hp. Above the GT Coupe is the more premium GT S Coupe, which gains a supercharger that allows its V8 to unlock a collective 720 horses.
Alongside the GT Coupe and GT S Coupe, AC Cars will also be producing a limited run of GT Clubsport Edition Cobras. Restricted to just 99 units worldwide, these stripped-down, track-focused, road-legal Coupe variants feature a massive supercharged and specially-tuned V8 that cranks out an astonishing 799hp — an enormous figure for any car, but especially one of this size. Sending power to the Cobra’s rear wheels, all three engine options come bolted to the buyer’s choice of either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic.
Like its droptop counterpart, the GT Coupe is constructed around an all-new, highly-advanced extruded aluminum spaceframe chassis and features a top-shelf suspension setup, six-piston front calipers, and widebody-style bodywork brought to life in carbon fiber. Other details include 10-arm wheels, all LED lighting throughout including Halo-style circular LED headlights, a 101.18-inch wheelbase, and a retro-inspired interior that boasts a bevy of modern amenities like power windows, climate control, and a nav-connected infotainment system. The aft-end of the Coupe also appears to take some inspiration from the tail of the Shelby Daytona.
Like the existing drop top variant that first broke cover last year, the new hardtop GT Coupe does a phenomenal job of blending old and new, putting a sleek spin on the Cobra’s ‘60s era bodywork and bestowing the thing with what can only be described as modern components and performance capabilities. With the Roadster-spec weighing in at under 3,100lbs at the curb and already offering some incredible handling, we can only imagine how much more capable the hardtop variant will be with its increased rigidity, superior cornering, and added lightness.
