A Modified 1977 Ford Bronco 302 Is Up For Auction

While some custom automotive builds see a finite, linear path from start to completion, others consist more of never-ending projects that are slowly but steadily modified and built upon, evolving little by little, year after year. And such is the case with the custom-built 1977 Ford Bronco 302 that’s just come up for auction on Bring a Trailer.

The build’s donor left the factory in 1977, presumably trading hands on numerous occasions over the years before more recently being modified just prior to being sold on Bring a Trailer in March of 2021. Over the subsequent two years, the project’s new owner proceeded to further modify and customize the truck, culminating in its current state — at least for now. Benefitting from a recent major servicing, this custom-modified ’77 Bronco build maintains the donor’s iconic and instantly-recognizable appearance while gaining a host of modernized aesthetic and performance elements. Finished in a dark blue metallic paint job, the Bronco’s body has received a contrasting white grille set above a chrome front bumper, as well as fender flares at all four corners, dual chrome side mirrors, chrome handles, and a rear bumper-delete panel with cutout sections to accommodate the build’s custom dual-pipe muffler arrangement. The body’s pronounced fender flares help to open up space for the project’s new set of 15” eight-hole Ultra wheels, the 35” General Grabber A/T tires they come shod in, and the increased suspension travel the wheels have been afforded by the build’s lifted Rancho shock-equipped upgraded suspension setup.

Powering the build is a 302ci (5.0-liter) V8 that’s been outfitted with a single carb with a Ford Racing-branded air cleaner assembly, finned valve covers, an MSD electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, a three-speed automatic transmission, and a dual-range transfer case with twin-stick shifters. Fortified beneath a Krawlers Edge roll cage and a removable tan soft top, the interior of the build has been fitted with front bucket seats, a rear bench seat, custom door panels, and a custom dash that have all been trimmed in bespoke perforated tan leather with diamond stitch-pattern inserts. Coated with a bed-liner material hidden beneath Coco mats, the inside of the truck has also been bestowed with a B&M shifter, a woodgrain Moto-Lita steering wheel, a fabricated dash plate housing AutoMeter Pro-Comp instrumentation, three-point seat belts, a modern aftermarket air conditioning system, and a Kenwood head unit and speaker setup. Providing easier entry into the vehicle is a set of power-retractable side steps.

Being sold by North Salem, New York-based elite service shop and dealership 1600Veloce, this custom-modified 1977 Ford Bronco 302 (Chassis #: U15GL080147) is currently crossing the online auction block of Bring a Trailer where, as of the time of writing, bidding has reached $35,000 with five days remaining on the sale.
