2006 Ducati GP6 Motorcycle | Uncrate

For nearly three decades Grand Prix motorcycle racing used a 500cc two-stroke engine format. That changed in 2002, with the switch to a 990cc four-stroke ruleset — and Ducati returned to the top tier of motorcycle racing with a vengeance. Ducati was in their fourth year of MotoGP competition in 2006 and began to see the fruits of their labor with a pole position at the first race of the season. Loris Capirossi piloted the Ducati GP6 for that race, taking the pole, checkered flag, and fastest lap. The GP6 shown here was built for Capirossi who took the pole and race win at Motegi in Japan, his final victory in the 990 era. Extremely rare, the bike will go to auction via RM Sotheby’s.
