BRABUS Debuts Its First-Ever Motorhome with the Big Boy 1200, and It’s a 40-foot Monster

If you’ve spent any amount of time on our site, you’ll know how much we love BRABUS and what they manage to churn out year after year, from their stealthy blacked-out Porsches to ultra-powerful superboats to exposed carbon motorbikes to military watches. Simply put, it seems as though the German outfit can do no wrong. And every once in a while, BRABUS will surprise us with a venture into a new lane. This time, that lane consists of motorhomes. Let’s take a look at the brand’s first-ever entry in the category: the Big Boy 1200.

Large and in Charge

As the name implies, the Big Boy 1200 — known as “BRAB’s Big Boy” around the office — is a very large recreational vehicle that’s now part of the brand’s Masterpiece series. Blacked out entirely on the matte exterior, save for the illuminated BRABUS logo on the grill, the class-A RV stretches 12m in length (nearly 40ft) and contains over 30sq.m of living space on the inside. This includes a 2.5-meter width that can extend to 4.5m thanks to a pair of electric sides that slide out for maximum space in the bedroom and saloon.

BRABUS has also included hydraulically extendable supports for leveling the vehicle on any surface. And despite the 4-meter height, the entryway steps extend down electrically so you don’t have to bust your knees getting in and out of this thing. The outside also sports side wind deflectors, fog light covers, a roof light bar, and a 360-degree camera monitor system.

Atop a three-axle chassis with twin rear tires, the vehicle itself runs on a 12.8-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine packed with 530hp and 1,918lb.ft of torque, and boasting about 56mph for its top speed.

What’s on the Inside?

While the outside gets the signature BRABUS treatment with its intense design, the interior is as luxurious as can be, with a pair of sofas upholstered in gray BRABUS leather stitched with “millimeter precision” in the brand’s triangle design. Trimmed with carbon for a “sporty touch,” the gray fabric is also tapped for the high-end carpets, contrasted with either black-finished wood or black Alcantara.

Sleeping in the Big Boy is a breeze with a plush 160cm x 200cm double bed with an electric slatted frame. An additional bed is placed above the cockpit and can be lowered electrically. You also get a large closet integrated into the back wall, a desk, and a 43-inch 4K smart TV with a PS5 and Starlink satellite internet included as part of the entertainment package.

Other features include an automatic AC unit, a parking heater, eight rooftop solar panels, a convertible dining room with designer chairs, and a luxurious bathroom with a rainforest shower and washbasin. The “modern kitchen” includes an induction stovetop, an oven, a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer unit, and even a wine fridge — which is a new one for me.
