Porsche Unveils 2025 911 GT3

Just before the turn-of-the-millennium, Porsche introduced the motoring world to its first-ever GT3-spec 911. Applying lessons learned from its competitive motorsport efforts, the 911 GT3 represented the pinnacle of performance for the 911 family, while maintaining full street-legal status. Now, a quarter-of-a-century since its inaugural GT3-spec debuted, Porsche has now rolled out the latest incarnation of the road-legal race car with the 2025 911 GT3.

The Basics

Derived from Porsche’s GT class race cars, the 2025 911 GT3 is an ultra-high-performance sports car that comes ready for track days and racing straight off the showroom floor — all while being comfortable, practical, and well appointed enough to actually lend itself to daily driving.

Classic Porsche Powertrain

Positioned behind the driver is a mid-mounted naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine bolted to the buyer’s choice of either a 7-speed dual clutch transmission or a 6-speed GT manual transmission. This engine borrows the 911 GT3 RS’ cam profile, updated cylinder heads, and various other internals.

Power & Performance

The 911 GT3’s flat-six cranks out a very respectable 502hp and 331ft-lbs. Thanks to its svelte weight, the vehicle can reach 60mph from a complete standstill in as little as 3.4 seconds. It can also achieve a top speed of 193mph.

Adding Lightness

It’s not only the immense power that the 911 GT3 generates that makes the vehicle so special, but also its handling. On top of a state-of-the-art active suspension setup, this car’s extreme handling and performance capabilities are owed to a series of weight-saving measures that make this both the lightest and most powerful production 911 on the market. Lightness has been added through the use of aluminum wheels, a new 40-Ah lithium-ion battery, and a generous host of carbon fiber bits — all adding up to a vehicle weighing just 3,130lbs.

Race-Ready Appearance

It’s obvious just from looking at the thing, that the 911 GT3 is a high-performance track-focused model. This is incredibly apparent thanks to its full aero kit which includes a vented hood, side skirts, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and an optional rear wing.

The Touring Package

As if the latest model year 911 GT3 wasn’t enough, Porsche has also unveiled a 911 GT3 with Touring Package – marking the first time two versions of the GT3-spec have been released simultaneously. Continuing a tradition first kicked off by the fabled 911 RS 2.7 in ’73 — and picked up by the GT3 program in 2017 — the Touring Package elevates the latest 911 GT3 even further with a series of noteworthy, performance-focused upgrades including a fixed wing, an extendable rear spoiler with a tear-off edge, the famed Gurney flap, an adapted fin design, and special Touring Package badges. And, for the first time, the Touring Package-equipped cars can now be equipped with a rear seat package. The 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring can be further upgraded through a series of available factory add-ons including an anti-roll bar, a CFRP roll cage and magnesium lightweight forged wheels.

The Matching Timepiece

As if the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 with Touring Package weren’t enough, the Stuttgart firm’s lifestyle and design house has also unveiled a matching timepiece to go with the new cars. Touted by Porsche Design as a “sports car for the wrist,” the 911 GT3 chronograph and the 911 GT3 Touring chronograph are constructed around titanium cases housing a COSC-certified WERK 01.200 movement, with a flyback function. The titanium case is also available in an optional black carbide coating.

Straight From The Horse’s Mouth

“The new 911 GT3 has become even more exhilarating and individual. We dug into a wealth of details and gave it many features that our customers wanted. This allows the GT3 to be adapted even more specifically to the purpose or preferences of the driver,” says Andreas Preuninger, Head of GT Cars.
