Despite a rich and illustrious history, Chrysler is currently something of a shadow of its former self, with a current lineup that’s comprised of only two versions of the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and the Chrysler 300 — the latter of which has been discontinued. The company’s choice to thin the herd, however, isn’t due to it being on its last leg, and instead is a result of the Stellantis-owned outfit taking on a tectonic-shift to an all-electric portfolio. And as the marque readies itself for its 100th anniversary, it’s opted to give the motoring public an early glimpse into the battery-powered automotive offerings for its second century in business with the debut of the fully-electric Chrysler Halcyon Concept Car.

This one-off EV represents more than a mere concept car, and instead stands as a literal vehicle that Chrysler is using to rehabilitate and alter its image and the public’s overall perception of the nearly-century-old brand. Comprised of a combination of sharp and flowing lines, the concepts futuristic exterior takes things in a markedly sleeker direction for Chrysler, as the Halcyon could just as easily pass for a concept from Porsche or Tesla. Working in tandem are a butterfly-hinged canopy and a pair of red-carpet-style side doors that open to reveal a 2+2 cabin that’s crafted from 95% sustainable materials. The interior of the car also boasts a rear seating setup that can retract and stow itself away in the car’s trunk. 

Riding on a futuristic-looking set of five-arm wheels, the entire vehicle is constructed atop parent company Stelantis’ STLA platform, which is also being used as the basis of several other forthcoming EV models from the likes of Jeep, Dodge, Alfa Romeo, and even Maserati. What’s more, the Halcyon Concept also benefits from the use of Chrysler’s parent company’s STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive technologies — the latter of which affords the concept with full autonomous driving capabilities. State-of-the-art through and through, the Halcyon also comes loaded with predictive navigation for real-time traffic routing, a dimmable glass roof canopy, windows, and windshield that feature automatic tinting and a full augmented reality display, a yoke-style steering wheel, a pre-drive mode, and an entry mode that utilizes advanced biometric identification to greet the vehicle’s driver using an exterior LED lighting animation, personalized exterior sound features, and a unique driver-specific greeting on the cabin’s interior screens.

Though it doesn’t appear to be earmarked for production, we’re nonetheless extremely eager to see Chrysler start rolling out the vehicles in its forthcoming all-electric lineup, because if they look even half as good as the Halcyon Concept Car, then we’re in for a treat.
