First introduced at the 2006 Paris Auto Show, the Audi R8 is a mid-engined supercar that for the last 18 years has stood as the Four Rings brand’s flagship model. And though it will soon be phasing out this halo supercar model, the German marque has opted to give it one final farewell in the form of an extremely limited run of Japanese market-exclusive 2023 Audi R8 Coupé Final Edition models.

This ultra-limited-edition model is based on Audi’s second-generation (Type 4S) R8, though the V10-powered supercar has been treated to a myriad of model-exclusive upgrades and details. Sharing its chassis and engine platform with the Lamborghini Huracán, this special edition R8 sports a matte Ibis white livery that comes contrasted by exposed carbon fiber area elements, all blacked-out badging, and a unique set of 20” five-spoke matte bronze-finished wheels with red calipers. Inside, the Japan Final Edition R8 Coupe gains an additional host of tweaks such as quilted black Nappa leather seats with cream-colored trim, matching black and cream door panels, and a quilted Alcantara headliner. What’s more, the door sills of each limited edition model features a specially-engraved plaque denoting each unit’s production number. 

Mounted behind the driver is the R8’s usual naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine, which comes bolted to a seven-speed s tronic gearbox sending power to the track-ready model’s full-time quattro AWD system. All told, the V10 manages to put down a very respectable 612hp and 428ft-lbs of torque. These performance capabilities ultimately allow the R8 to reach 60mph from a complete standstill in only 3.2 seconds, and achieve an even more impressive top speed of 196mph. Each unit is also sold with an included commemorative plate sporting the exact model’s VIN. In total, the R8 Coupé Japan Final Edition will be restricted to only 8 units worldwide — all of which are earmarked for the Japanese market. 

The 2023 Audi R8 Coupé Japan Final Edition has been priced at ¥35,080,000 (~ $247,300).
