Few aircraft have ever been more iconic than the Concorde jet. Upon its inaugural commercial flight in 1976, the supersonic airliner was poised to change the way we flew, both in terms of efficiency and speed. It could cross the Atlantic Ocean in just 3 and a half hours, fly faster than the Earth’s rotation, and reach heights of 60,000ft. Just as it was luxurious on the inside, it also had a beautiful curved triangular wing shape and a front tip that lowered so pilots could see better upon landing. Although it flew its final flight more than 20 years ago, LEGO remembers the Concorde with a brand-new set that honors the legendary plane.

The Concorde was not only an architectural masterpiece but an engineering marvel. However, with a devastating crash in 2000, astronomical ticket prices, a downturn in the industry following 9/11, and limitations in flight trajectories (e.g., the plane was prohibited from flying over land due to the noise and damage caused by the sonic boom), the plane was retired by 2003. These days, the innovative aircraft is not much more than a cultural curio. Scale models have been made for the past 40-plus years, but this is the first time LEGO has put its unique touch on the jet.

Intended for builders 18 years and older, the LEGO Concorde features 2,083 pieces in total and will stretch 41.5” long when finished. Super detailed, the set has a removable roof that unveils the realistic interior cabin, as well as a side panel that reveals the landing gear. Like the actual Concorde, this version can be displayed in landing mode with a tilted visor. The set comes with a stand and an information plaque for display.
