1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder

Ferrari sold 47 250 GT California Spyders in just under two years, but only six in California — and this is one of those six. Luigi Chinetti, Eno Ferrari’s North American importer, suggested adding “California” to the 250 GT Spyder’s name. Enzo, like it or not, was a car salesman and needed to move road cars to keep the racing afloat. He also knew that putting wealthy, famous, and attractive people in them helped immeasurably; and thus the California Spyder was born. Sold new to Hal Haub of Los Angeles by the Ferrari dealer in Hollywood, California, this passed through several hands before crossing the Atlantic to Europe in 1992. In 2010, it was acquired by a Swiss collector, where it will be auctioned at the Salon Rétromobile in Paris. Ferrari Classiche certified, expect a seven to eight-figure price when the hammer falls.
