“If you have a great back seat—or seats that flatten and give you plenty of cargo space—you can accomplish pretty much any position as you would in bed: missionary, cowgirl, butterfly, doggy, 69 sex positions, and more,” says Angie Rowntree, founder and director of Sssh.com. “We say let your vehicle’s interior space be your practical guide, then let your mutual desires and imaginations wander.”

If you’ve got a two-door car and don’t have much of a back seat, slide the passenger seat as far back as it will go to create space between you and the dashboard. The penetrative partner sits, adjusting the angle of recline for comfort, then the receiving partner straddles them, resting their knees on either side of the seat. The vulva-owner lowers down on their partner’s penis or strap-on and controls the speed, depth, and rhythm. “This position can be intimate and close, and allows for deep penetration,” shares Rachel Needle, licensed psychologist and co-director of Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. 

5. Rear-Entry Lean

How to Do It

“Ensure the backseat and floor are clear,” prefaces Needle, then have the receiving partner kneel on the floor and lean over the backseat with hands or forearms resting against the seatback for support. The penetrative partner kneels behind the receiving partner and engages in penetration vaginally or anally. Depending on the vehicle and body size, the penetrative partner can kneel on the backseat and the receiving partner can stand then fold their body over the passenger seat, pushing their hips back so genitals align. “This position is easy to get into, and gives a great angle for G-spot stimulation,” Needle adds.

6. Clamshell

How to Do It

The receiving partner lies on their back across the bench seat or cargo space and brings their legs all the way up to their ears, mimicking the happy baby pose in yoga. The penetrative partner lowers on top and enters slowly for deep penetration.

7. Backseat Driver

How to Do It

Utilize the captain’s chair in the backseat and recline one all the way back. The giving partner sits back while the receiving partner straddles them, facing away, with their back to them. “This one is a wild ride,” says Melissa Fogel, licensed psychologist at Whole Health Psychological Center. “It provides more legroom for both partners and good control of depth and pace.”

8. Side Saddle

How to Do It

The penetrative partner lies on their side across the bench seat, then the receiving partner assumes a spooning position so their back is to the penetrative partner’s front. “The receiving partner can keep one leg bent for better access, while the giving partner controls the angle of penetration,” says Balestrieri. “The position can be awkward to get into at first and may require some adjustment to find the right angle,” she says. But once you’re in it, it’s “ideal for slower, more sensual sessions with plenty of full-body contact.”

9. Inverted 69

How to Do It

The larger of the two partners sits in the passenger seat and reclines the angle back to 45 degrees. The partner on top assumes an inverted position by placing their head on the bottom’s lap—bracing their weight on their partner’s knees or placing hands on floor—to align mouths to genitals. The partner on top rests their hips on the bottom’s shoulders, knees against headrest, and feet against ceiling.

How to Do It

The receiving partner lies down on the back bench seat, knees bent, feet planted. The penetrative partner faces them, propping their hands behind them for leverage and support as they weave their legs under the receiving partner’s to align genitals. The giver can thrust their hips or move in a circular motion, while the vulva-owner is free to massage their breasts or stimulate their clit.
